Rahat al-Halqum is considered one of the oldest sweets in the world with a history of 500 years and it can be said that its recipe has remained almost unchanged since the day Rahat al-Halqum was first baked until today.
In 1777, during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid I, in order to attract the favorable attention of his queen, he ordered his chefs and pastry chefs to produce a unique dessert. At this time, pastry chefs gathered and finally a pastry chef's apprentice named Bekir Efendi, who had come to Istanbul from a small town in eastern Anatolia, was able to give birth to Rahat al-Halqum.
Rahat al-Halqum has more than 24 different flavors, among which flavors such as rose water, frankincense, plain Rahat al-Halqum, mint, coffee, etc. Rahat al-Halqum is filled with nuts such as hazelnuts, pistachios and walnuts.
